Artist Bryden Williams headed to China to partake in the first arts residency of the $100,000 10 year arts initiative, the Chippendale New World Art Prize. As a result of his eye opening artist residency in Bejing, Williams brings CHINA IS REAL to NG Art Gallery in Chippendale.
The exhibition consists of new media sculptures and non-narrative videos filmed and created in Beijing, China. The role of drinking water and pollution in Beijing is addressed in a series of sculptures created using water filter jugs. The video works vary from site-specific locational interventions and footage filmed in the provinces of Hubei, Sichuan and Chongqing.
