MAI LONG'S ARTIST STATEMENT

We are never alone. We all have friends.
Many of my friends play together in my drawings,
And in my 3D / mixed media work.

They are not sure who they are,
So try on different names and guises to navigate
Each other's headspace, and the world around them.

There are moments when their playground
Is beautiful and blissful
At other times no one can be trusted, nothing is safe
But always, and oh always, it is a special magical place.

And... if they play hard enough,
They might just shift those bindings on their perceptions.
